History

• Ethernetics was founded in 2018 … … to give an answer on the increase in network traffic in data centers due to the continuous virtualization of devices and appliances such as e.g, routers, firewalls, load balancers etc… Common data center topologies such as top of rack switching or end of row switching don’t give an adequate answer on the increase in latency and network congestion due to cloud and virtualization.
• Early 2019 Ethernetics received Vlaio (Vlaams Agentschap Innoveren en Ondernemen) grants to develop innovative network switching technology. The innovation stems from the use of FPGA technology. The routing algorithms are programmed in the switch itself. This lowers the latency, accelerates network traffic and avoids congestion in the data center and is more energy efficient. With the acquisition of Racktivity Intellectual Property (IP) mid 2019, Ethernetics became the owner of innovative power distribution, din rail, sensor and datacenter monitoring technology including owner of an embedded oscilloscope functionality patent in a power distribution unit. The innovative switch in combination with the acquired data center IP form the technological basis of the current activities of Ethernetics.
• Early 2020 The team was completed and the vision to offer solutions to data centers, data center customers and telecommunications providers to lower their carbon footprint was defined. Mid 2020 was a hard period for Ethernetics as for many other companies and businesses due to the Covid-19 crisis and development and start of proof of concepts were delayed. We bounced back by winning the 5th edition of Pitch@Vlerick, a pitching event from Vlerick Business School (Vlerick is a triple-accredited, international business school) in September 2020, beating 6 other start-up companies.
• In october of 2020 … … we received the confirmation of PMV entering the Ethernetics capital by granting a convertible loan agreement. In the same period Vlaio completed their payment obligations for the development of the innovative Switch that is part of our decarbonization platform solution “Decabon” as hardware module.

Vision

Today, Ethernetics is a conscious, digital, green company with 1 major mission: decarbonize the internet and offer a piece of the puzzle in making the internet greener! Sustainability is core for Ethernetics, most of you are familiar with the 3P’s, people, planet, profit we at Ethernetics used this mantra as our inspiration and have developed our own 3G’s: Green Company, Green Solutions, Green Society!

As a green company we take an ethical stance on green entrepreneurship. Our aim is to efficiently manage the supply chain by working with suppliers to reduce environmental costs and improve environmental performance of their products and services in relation to our products and services and supply chain

Our green solutions is to deliver performant technology that reduces carbon footprint of the internet across continents and industries. We need to act now as the demand for electricity in the industry is likely to grow to 10% of total electricity consumption by 2030. Our solutions target material carbon footprint reductions per rack by 50% and we are confident we can reach up to 30% less power consumption.
